Top Drive Mechanical Technician Employer: GDS International Desired Expertise: Strong product knowledge of Top Drives Experience: 2+ years Education: High School/Secondary Location: Houston, Tx, United States Job Description: GDS International, a company specializing in all Top Drive Repair, Engineering, Application and Spare Parts is seeking to fill position of Top Drive Mechanical Technician for work at our facility as well as the Customer's location. This position reports directly to the Operations Manager. The successful candidate will possess in depth knowledge of top drive mechanical and hydraulic configurations, equipment operations and will be able to effectively troubleshoot top drives at the Customer's site. Required Skills and Experience 2 or more years experience as a Top Drive Technician, experienced with Varco, Tesco and Canrig Top Drives and the ability to travel whenever needed domestically Professional Certifications and Trade Training Proficient in the use of hand tools as well as measuring and metering tools. Able to read Hydraulic and Electric schematics for top drive systems Strong Communication Skills and the desire to be a leader in Service Able to liaise with the Customer regarding maintenance / repairs and planning ahead so as to avoid the risk of delay through equipment breakdown. Basic Computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Word, Outlook and Excel Able to gain respect from customers through hard work and equipment knowledge Familiar with PLC Software, Panelview HMI's. Basic familiarity with AC and DC drives. Familiar with Generators and their Controls. Prepare accurate records on the maintenance and repair of equipment. Analyze equipment malfunctions. Knowledge and Experience with other Drilling and Traveling Equipment an asset Work requires travel to meetings, site visits, and inspections. This requires the possession of a valid state driver's license within 60 days of employment. Work requires willingness to work a flexible schedule. Ability to obtain a passport preferred.
