“Subsea Operations Engineer (Marlin)”

Subsea Operations Engineer (Marlin)

Posted: 18 Nov 2010 04:31 PM PST

Job Description:
The Gulf of Mexico (GoM) is one of the most prolific basins in the world with BP being one of the leaders in terms of leases, reserves, and production. The GoM SPU is critical to the E&P Segment business delivery, having production of 400+ mboepd, with continued base production through subsea tiebacks. Maintaining current base production and supporting the SPU growth agenda will heavily depend on availability of subsea assets.

The health and availability of each BP operated subsea system is maintained through the centralized Subsea Operations Team. This team has dedicated Single Points of Accountability (SPA's) supporting the Atlantis, Marlin, Nakika, and Pompano hubs in delivery of their production targets. Subsea Operations is responsible for providing support through the SPA in delivery of optimization, troubleshooting, inspection, maintenance, and repair of subsea facilities and assistance with localized development and compliance with the OMS agenda. Improvement of system availability by elimination of defects and reduced Mean Time to Repair is a key forward focus area for all Subsea Operation Engineers roles.

The Marlin TLP is currently one of BP's largest net producers in the GoM SPU and depends almost exclusively on production from the following subsea systems:

• King Field (3 wells)
• King Subsea Booster Pumps (2 pumps - 1 MW each)
• Dorado Field (3 Wells - 1st Oil established Q1 '09)
• King South (1 Well - 1st Oil established Q2 '09)
• Nile Field (1 well - planned for P&A 2011)
• Marlin Subsea (1 well)

The Marlin TLP currently produces approximately 50 bopd and 70 mmscfpd (gross).

Reporting Relationships:

The Marlin Subsea Operations Engineer reports to the Subsea Operations Team Leader (Mark Roberson), and has a "dotted line" reporting relationship to the Marlin Subsea SPA (Joshua Kerley). The Marlin Subsea SPA also reports directly to the Subsea Operations Team Leader. The Subsea Operations Team Leader reports directly to the GoM Subsea Operations Manager (Dave Turner), which reports to the VP Operations with an SPU functional responsibility. This group closely interfaces with the CDO Subsea Program organization which combines all subsea major project related work (from Appraise through to Operate).

The key objectives of the Marlin Subsea Operations Engineer are to provide day to day technical support to the operating asset, planning and execution of maintenance / repair subsea interventions, defect elimination, and direct assistance with development of the preparedness and response strategy.
