Job Description:
The Gulf of Mexico (GoM) Strategic Performance unit (SPU), comprising GoM Production, GOM Developments (Projects) and GOM Exploration, is focused upon sustaining BP's position as #1 Operator in the GoM. To this end the business has a leading position in terms of the quality of exploration prospects, depth of development opportunities, and plans for production growth. With gross annual third party spend in excess of $3.5 billion, underpinning the success of the business is the effectiveness of Procurement and Supply Chain Management (PSCM).

With increased focus on process safety, it is critical that BP effectively manages the delivery of supplier quality and to this end, the newly established position of Quality Engineer is being created. The Quality Engineer will be part of a team of Supplier Quality Management (SQM) Quality Engineers within an SPU PSCM organisation.

The prime objective of the role is to ensure that structured Quality Management (QM) controls and assurance processes are implemented into the PSCM process to deliver:
• Rigorous quality management throughout all phases of procurement and contracts execution
• PSCM process compliance with the Group Integrity Management (IM) Standard.
• Conformance to the PSCM requirements and responsibilities included in the E&P Engineering and Quality Management Guidelines.

Major aspects of the role are: 1) to assist the individual Technical Authorities (TA), engineers and procurement staff identify the technical and QM requirements to be applied into the work activities, and 2) manage the compliance process in order to provide assurance that the services, materials and/ or equipment included in contracts and purchase orders meet the functional and technical requirements.

Position Requirements
To be considered for the role of Senior Quality Engineer applicants must have:
• Legal authorization to work in the US on a full-time basis for anyone other than your current employer
• Ability to travel domestically and internationally for at least 25% of the role
• Minimum of a Bachelor's degree, standard in an engineering discipline, or significant industry experience
• Minimum of 8 year's professional engineering experience in heavy engineering (preferably oil and gas), operations or marine
• Experience working with contractors and suppliers in the design manufacturing and testing of heavy industry equipment and materials
• Experience in identifying technical integrity / quality assurance requirements for incorporation into procurement specifications
• Good understanding of Quality Control processes as applied to materials and equipment involved with the oil and gas or similar industries
• Ability to lead and direct technical, HSSE, Integrity and Quality Audits on contractors and suppliers
